I Forgot What I Was Saying June 29, 2008

This artwork is for the Altered/Collage Scrap Forums art challenge, which was to emulate the style of an artist named Eduardo Recife. He does a lot of grungy/raw artworks. I sort of merged some of his style with my own. I wanted mine to be different.

As with the previous entry, I just snapped a pic with my MacBook’s camera function because I left my digital camera in the car. So, it is a bit dark, but I thought it was kinda quirky and interesting nonetheless.

I found this image of the woman in a magazine ad for a store’s Wedding Registry. The title suggests the crazy bliss of being in love and how nothing else matters.

Here is the artwork I did for the Arty Girlz challenge. This is for the ongoing recycling challenge. I used a piece of recycled cardboard that came in a package with a pillowcase I bought. Also, I used small bits of salvaged decorative papers.

I left my digital camera in the car, so I just snapped a pic with my MacBook’s camera function! Silly, but it’s what I had in front of me!

The subject of this piece is sort of the battle between good and evil in my life. That is my “heart” in the middle, notice it is torn but put back together, and it is blooming as a flower. All around the piece I stamped the letters “n” and “o” (for the word “no”). I am saying no to evil, and I created a boundary all around the artwork which is protecting my heart. In the middle of the peace I say “yes” to God.. and thus is the reason for the word “yes” at the top of the artwork.

one step forward June 24, 2008

They key to building momentum and creating balance in my life is just taking a little time each day to get further in each life area. Pay a bill and I am closer to financial freedom. Get my lesson plan done and I can go home with less stress from work. Put the dirty dishes in the dishwasher, and now my home is more beautiful and peaceful and clean. Take a quick walk and my health begins to improve. Stop and read a Psalm to God, and now my soul is richer and I am more at peace and filled with joy. Chat with a friend, and I am socially happier, and am giving back to those I love.

I just gotta hold on to this knowledge and keep applying it.

Dale Loves Color June 21, 2008

Here is my piece that I made for the Sunday Postcard Art Challenge. We were challenged to make a postcard in honor of a painter. I chose Dale Chihuly. Chihuly is most well known for his elaborate, colorful thrown glass pieces. He is my favorite artist. He also does amazing paintings while his team is working on the glass pieces. He uses a ton of paint and a ton of color. A lot of his glass forms resemble characteristics of objects found in nature such as sea forms, or floral forms. I chose to reflect a more sea-like form in my artwork, although the tendrils could also be part of a floral figure. I used a lot of bright colors just like Dale Chihuly might choose, and I used a lot of circular, splattered, and wavy shapes that reflect Chihuly’s styles.

Father’s Day Card June 15, 2008

Here is the Father’s day card I made for my dad. I used the theme “By the Sea” from the Mixed Media Mondays blog. I don’t know how well it shows up in the photo but I stamped fish images with silver and gold ink at the bottom of the card.

Here is my photo that I took for the Creative Spirits Connect art challenge blog.

My favorite routine activity is when I put on all my funky earrings in the morning. I love making my ears sparkle! Jewelery is just so much fun. I feel like an artsy princess when I dress up my ears.

I am pleased with the composition of the photo, but the quality isn’t the greatest. I am still saving up for a dSLR camera. Until then, my point and shoot one will have to suffice.
